This page was inspired by Mark Boulton (and others). I really like the notion of sharing what you use to build a website. because I’m an amateur, mostly self-taught, and stuff like this helped show me the way.
The nitty gritty
The CMS is the venerable old Textpattern. I used Wordpress for years, but it became too big and unwieldy for my purposes. Textpattern (ironically what Wordpress was forked from originally), on the other hand, is small and fast. The community is also small, but very friendly. For someone who just wants to write, it’s a godsend. To code the site, I use Espresso, Codekit and MAMP. All on a Mac. Most of the texts are written using iA Writer, either on the desktop or a mobile unit.
